Chalante Travels LLC, the company formed by Nancy Horner on January 3, 2001, creates affordable, educational group trips, which broaden horizons and deepen relationships with people throughout the world. Travel changes people’s lives. We never view the world quite the same after a trip abroad. Now, more than ever, it is important to understand both the similarities and the differences we have with citizens of other nations throughout the world.

The name Chalante Travels comes from the YMCA group I belonged to in high school in the 1960s. The 15 Chalantes set out on traveling adventures every summer in the back of a cattle truck. We waded ankle deep in water in Bryce Canyon National Park, slept under the stars in Yosemite, and visited San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury. We’ve never forgotten those great times and remained friends over all these years, still getting together every summer. As teenage girls, we invented the name “Chalante,” hoping it sounded French. To me it has come to mean fun, friends, and another crazy adventure.
